It features a design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and it uses just 2.5 watts of power--less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor--for excellent battery management. The sleek aerodynamic design includes elegant touches such as the color-rich chassis along with the metallic hinge with a colored accent. It also uses a clever Multi-Gesture Touchpad that allows you to pinch, flick and swirl your fingers across the touchpad for more natural photo and video viewing as well as intuitive navigation of websites such as Google Earth. The Multi-Gesture Touchpad allows you to scroll, zoom in and out and flip through web pages, photos, spreadsheets and more. Finally, it features a soft-touch palm rest to increase typing comfort.

Great little machine! I'm so glad I bought one August 20, 2010 Richard Odato (Sarasota) I've had mine for a few months now. Its tiny size and light weight make it a champion for people like me who travel extensively. The large hard drive at 250 Gigs is a very nice feature. The battery life is terrific and the screen sharpness and brightness is unsurpassed. The picture quality is better than any of the other computers in our inventory. I can see the screen clearly in bright light. I have been able to run programs like Lightroom on it and it streams video very nicely from my SlingBox over the internet or WiFi. The keyboard is just fine.
My only complaint is the horrible "mouse" buttons that take a considerable amount of effort to depress. Since the computer itself is very small and light, you can easily knock it off your lap trying to press the mouse buttons. This is a very serious flaw in an otherwise excellent computer. It has been suggested that I buy an external mouse. No thanks! This is supposed to be a "portable" computer and carrying an external mouse is a silly fix for a problem that should never have happened in the first place. It would add yet another thing to pack in the computer bag for absoloutely no reason and won't work in limited space such as on an airline tray table.
I found Win 7 Started Edition to be just fine. It boots and shuts down very rapidly and it has been quite reliable. I bumped my Acer up to 2 Gigs of RAM, and bought an external DVD Burner very inexpensively.
That little inconvenience of not being able to change the desktop wallpaper with Starter Edition was easily overcome with shareware. The instructions are all over the internet to do that. All in all, this is very inexpensive, very light and small netbook and I have found it to be quite reliable so far and a more than adequate performer. I would give it five stars if it just had better mouse buttons.
Nice netbook, great combo of power and weight August 5, 2010 A. Powell (Fort Collins, CO) I bought an AOD250 with a 160 GB hard drive and 3-cell battery, so there may be some differences in models. However, this is a great little machine. I've used computers for 30 years and know my way around them pretty well. I swapped the RAM card for a 2GB card and upped the battery to a 6-cell, which gives me about 5.5 hours of use. The Windows 7 starter software works great and has posed no problems. If you want to change the wallpaper, just search for a forum that tells you how - tons of people are using these machines and discussing how to modify Win 7 Starter to allow a wallpaper change and make various other tweaks to Win 7 starter.
These machines are primarily for web browsing and email, although I know at least one guy who says he runs Photoshop on his. There is PLENTY of power for these basic applications, and you may be surprised how much more you can do. Every program I've run on this ACER has performed decently and the netbook has never balked. As far as software, 160 GB is enough room to do anything within reason. I downloaded Open Office because I didn't need to buy another MS Office package, and it works fine.
The touch pad is rather small and the left and right mouse clicks feel a bit odd, but they work well and it doesn't take long to get used to them. The keyboard is small enough that you need to run a spell check or double-check your work; you will make keyboarding errors. BUT - the tradeoff is that even with a 6-cell battery, it only weighs 3 pounds. I drop it in the center section of my briefcase and I can travel for a week and have all the computing power I need. The wireless reception is as powerful as that in my 17" HP Laptop, and I have no complaints with it.
Awesome netbook August 3, 2010 Barb I just love this Acer Netbook, travels easily, and has all the options I need.
Highly recommend.
Horrible June 30, 2010 S. Casey 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this netbook yesterday and the first time I turned it on the touchpad would not work. If I scrolled over something it would click on it for no reason. After spending an hour and a half with tech support trying to fix it, it still would not work. I plan on returning it asap. Horrible customer service and very displeased with product. Never again will I buy an acer product.
awsum netbook June 27, 2010 babychevy This is a very nice little netbook speed is fast love the style and the battery life is 8 hrs and maybe even a little longer would strongly recomend this if your looking to get a netbook
